CENTERED WEDNESDAYS presents,
BRETT RUBIN (Terrace Afterhours | Las Vegas)
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11TH, 2019
– BIO –
When Carl Cox, Disclosure, Claude VonStroke or Richie Hawtin descend behind the decks in Las Vegas, it’s Brett Rubin who’s called to set the night up proper. When Burning Man needs a DJ/producer to play peak time that can channel the energy of the crowd, Brett Rubin is on board. And when venues need an afterhours aficionado to keep the dancefloor going until after sunrise, Brett Rubin is the go-to veteran to build a party from the ground up.
A Chicago native, Brett Rubin spent his late teens digging in crates for electronic music at Gramaphone and other famous Windy City record shops. He experimented with it all, from house and trance to techno, nu disco and progressive. Since planting his roots in Las Vegas, Brett Rubin most enjoys seamlessly integrating different moods of house and tech. “I definitely draw from a wide variety of influences and I pride myself on my programming, meaning that I cater to the time of day, the venue, the crowd and—as weird as it sounds—what the crowd is under the influence of,” says Rubin of his nearly 20 years behind the decks. “Style-wise, I play everything from house, techno, tech house and deep, mostly on the deeper realm of things without being too fluffy and floaty,” he says. “It really depends on the time of day.”
Brett Rubin’s experience has earned him gigs from Miami to Portland as well as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Salt Lake City, plus playing at ADE, BPM, Electric Daisy Carnival, Groove Cruise and Minus Zero. He’s also been a staple at all the best underground parties in Sin City, including a residency at the infamous Empire Ballroom, playing with greats such as Nicole Moudaber, Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber, Danny Tenaglia and more for Sundown at Daylight, as well as launching the still-running Artisan Afterhours and now Terrace Afterhours. Keep an ear out for his latest productions in his sets as the multifaceted Brett Rubin brings his sounds to a party near you.
Rubin has performed at just about every major nightclub and pool club on the Las Vegas Strip, while being a staple of the afterhours scene. Rubin held residencies at Empire Ball Room and Seamless for 4 years before launching his own afterhours at the Artisan Boutique hotel which quickly became voted the number one afterhours in Las Vegas. Brett is co-creator and music director of Black Rock Syndicate, one of the premiere sound stages at each years Burning Man Festival. Brett also performs on some of the other main stages each year including Opulent Temple, and Distrikt.
